  The  Dead to Me  star, who was also a nominee at the ceremony, took the stage to present the first award of the night. The Emmys began with an emotional and celebratory start when  Christina Applegate  received a standing ovation. Following host Anthony Anderson's opening monologue, he announced Christina as the presenter for the first award of the night, Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. After Anthony went over to walk Christina to the mic, the audience rose to their feet. Katherine Heigl  took to the stage with Ellen Pompeo,  Justin Chambers , James Pickens Jr., and  Chandra Wilson  for a  Grey's Anatomy  reunion at the Emmys.
